Recap: Rincon/University Rangers vs. Cienega Bobcats
The Rincon/University Rangers suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 78-57 walloping at the hands of Cienega. Rincon/University's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Despite the loss, Rincon/University still got an impressive performance from Sam O'Dowd, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaire Hays, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Evan Golembieski continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cienega, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Isaac Sdobnev, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Rincon/University has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Cienega, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rincon/University will challenge Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sunnyside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Friday. As for Cienega, they will head out on the road to take on Desert View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert View is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
