Centerville had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 13-5 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Mason Comets 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Elks have posted since March 29th.
As for Mason, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-4. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by just one run.
For Mason's part, Aiden Henger was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Henger has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Mason saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JJ Darst, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
