Baseball Recap: Holdrege Takes a Loss

Holdrege had lost seven straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 6-9 to make it eight. They fell just short of the Lincoln Northwest Falcons by a score of 10-9. The Dusters were not able to make up for their defeat to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Grayson Popple was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Cam Waldo, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

As for Lincoln Northwest, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-15. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Lincoln Northwest's side, Xavier Malone and Sam Millian did most of the damage at the plate: Malone got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Millian got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave Millian a new career-high. Sammy Jurgens was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.
