Even though the Steele Canyon Cougars scored an imposing 59 points on Saturday, the Mount Miguel Matadors still came out on top. Mount Miguel walked away with a 66-59 win over Steele Canyon. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mount Miguel.

Mount Miguel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Thaddeus Boudreaux, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jasen Hughes, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.

Mount Miguel has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Steele Canyon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Mount Miguel's road trip will continue as they head out to face Grossmont at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th. Grossmont will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1074th, while Mount Miguel is ranked 411th). As for Steele Canyon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Helix at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Helix has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
