Volleyball Recap: King's Academy Takes Down Cardinal Gibbons in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and King's Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They won by a set and slipped past the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since March 22nd.

The win didn't come easy: Cardinal Gibbons scored at least 12 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 15-12.

John Casey paced King's Academy's offense, picking up 15 kills. Casey got some help from Jake Manning and his 46 assists. Ryan Huff controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

King's Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Cardinal Gibbons, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-11.

King's Academy has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against JC Bermudez Doral on the 15th. Cardinal Gibbons does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
