Volleyball Recap: Gordo Takes a Loss

Gordo lost against Oakman back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Green Wave took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. While the Green Wave didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 25-17 in the first set.

Gordo started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-11, 25-10, 25-13.

Oakman found their leader in sophomore Annleigh Hagood, who had ten digs and seven aces. Hagood also set a new season-high mark in assists with 22.

This is the second loss in a row for Gordo and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Oakman, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Coming up, Gordo will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lamar County at 5:30 p.m. After both having extra time off, Oakman and Carbon Hill will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
