Basketball Game Preview: Southridge Raiders vs. Heritage Hills Patriots

Southridge is 1-9 against Heritage Hills since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Southridge Raiders will look to defend their home court against the Heritage Hills Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Monday, Southridge strolled past Tecumseh with points to spare, taking the game 68-52. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Braves are ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Heritage Hills over Tecumseh in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Heritage Hills blew Tecumseh out of the water with a 77-36 final score. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 23 points or more this season.

Heritage Hills' win came from a few key players Southridge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Hunter Meredith, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Tait Wetzel, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 13 points and six boards.

Heritage Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Heritage Hills' victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Southridge, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
