Jefferson hasn't had much luck against Canutillo recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Silver Foxes are taking a road trip to face off against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Jefferson turned things around against El Paso on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Tigers 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Silver Foxes have posted since April 11, 2025.

Joseph Quintanar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Jefferson's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 4-2 (and 3-13 when he doesn't).
At the plate, Dario Baez was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Eden Perez, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Canutillo was able to grind out a solid victory over Chapin on Friday, taking the game 8-3.
Canutillo also got a great performance from Julian Esparza as he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave Esparza a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Emilio Melendez and Landon Flores did most of the damage at the plate: Melendez went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Flores went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Diezel Blanco was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
Canutillo's record now sits at 17-8-1. As for Jefferson, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 7-15.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jefferson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Canutillo struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jefferson might still be hurting after the 18-4 loss they got from Canutillo in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Silver Foxes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
