Preview: Quincy Trojans vs. Portola Tigers
The Quincy Trojans will be playing at home against the Portola Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Quincy posted their biggest victory since December 13, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 53-30 margin over Chester. The win made it back-to-back wins for Quincy.
Meanwhile, Portola had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They claimed a resounding 76-33 win over Burney on the road. With Portola ahead 36-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Portola found their leader in underclassman Connor Sheridan, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 15 rebounds. Sheridan is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Magnus Berg, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Quincy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-14 record this season. As for Portola, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
Quincy came up short against Portola in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 64-57. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sheridan, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds.
