Softball Game Preview: Fairmont Firebirds vs. Miamisburg Vikings

For the second straight game, Fairmont will face off against Miamisburg. The Firebirds will square off against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairmont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Fairmont barely beat Miamisburg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Firebirds put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 10-1 victory on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Firebirds, who have now won three matches in a row.

Jaylin Turner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carlee Netherton, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Hannah Perdue, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Fairmont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.

Miamisburg's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Fairmont, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
