Softball Recap: University City's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clairemont, University City was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Olympian Eagles, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Centurions as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Aliyah Padilla spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, University City saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydni Sandoval, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two hits gave Sandoval a new career-high.

University City's record is now 6-13-1. As for Olympian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-12-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University City will venture away from home to face off against Madison at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Centurions are facing the Warhawks at the right time seeing as the Warhawks are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Olympian, they are taking a road trip to take on Chula Vista at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
