Baseball Recap: Fleming Island Triumphs

It was a Battle of the Birds when Fleming Island faced off against Menendez on Monday. The Golden Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons, sneaking past 5-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.

Landon Reilly and Caden Swartz did most of the damage at the plate: Reilly went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Swartz got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Swartz has posted since back in February.

Fleming Island's record is now 14-7. As for Menendez, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Fleming Island will face off against Beachside at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Menendez, they will challenge Bartram Trail at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
