Basketball Recap: Chamberlain Storm vs. Sumner Stingrays

Chamberlain was the 39-20 winner over Sumner when they last played one another back in January of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Chamberlain Storm were dealt a 64-37 loss at the hands of the Sumner Stingrays on Tuesday.

Chamberlain's loss came despite strong showings from Ellayna Stephens and Alyssa Dejesus. Stephens posted 18 points and four steals, while Dejesus put up 13 points and four steals.

Briana Gill-Guyette was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine steals for Sumner. Gill-Guyette continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Mikayla Berry also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Chamberlain's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Sumner, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9.

Chamberlain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-34 victory against Robinson on the 30th. As for Sumner, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-5 win against Tampa Bay Tech on the 29th.
