Basketball Recap: Ralston Valley Mustangs vs. Chatfield Chargers
The Ralston Valley Mustangs won the last time they faced the Chatfield Chargers, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Ralston Valley came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 49-38. The win made it back-to-back wins for Ralston Valley.
Ralston Valley found their leader in underclassman Santana Sabus, who scored 31 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Kailey Townsend was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Josie Lynch and Audrey Hubbell certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Lynch scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks, while Hubbell scored 17 points. Lynch has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Bickford, who scored two points.
Ralston Valley pushed their record up to 10-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Chatfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ralston Valley will take on the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Valor Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups. As for Chatfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Allowing an average of 55.8 points per game, Columbine has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this match.
