Richmond has gone 7-2 against Jay County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Red Devils will venture away from home to take on the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Richmond will be strutting in after a win while Jay County will be coming in after a defeat.

Richmond is headed out to face Jay County after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Red Devils walked away with a 56-45 victory over Hagerstown on Wednesday.

Richmond's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Thomas Stargell led the charge by shooting 50% from the field on his way to 13 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Eli Hubbard, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Jay County came up short against Fort Wayne South Side on Tuesday and fell 64-57. The loss continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Archers: they've now lost three in a row.

Richmond will need to focus on slowing down Gradin Swoveland, one of several Jay County players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5-for-9 en route to 15 points and seven boards. Swoveland is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Cole Forthofer was another key player, as he made all 5 shots he took for 11 points and six rebounds.

Richmond was able to grind out a solid win over Jay County in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, winning 43-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
