Preview: Mansfield Summit vs. Highland Park

You might have to check the scoreboard more often than usual this week as both Highland Park and Mansfield Summit enter their game this Friday after big points in their previous contests. Mansfield Summit picked up a decisive 'W' against Spruce last week, finishing up at 69 - 0. As for Highland Park, everything went its way against McKinney North as it secured a 73 - 20 win.

Mansfield Summit had things more or less wrapped up by halftime last week having put itself ahead 49 - 0. One of the main ringleaders for it was junior Richard Chark, who ran for 187 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. Chark has now scored at least one TD in the past six consecutive games. The win -- the team's 3rd in a row -- brings Mansfield Summit's record to 8-4.

Meanwhile, Highland Park was predicted to win a blowout based on MaxPreps state rankings, and the prediction was right. Senior Noble Nash was a defensive powerhouse in the victory and ended up with 17 total tackles. Senior John stehpen Jones got in on the action, too, by scoring three touchdowns. If you haven't heard of Jones, then you haven't been paying attention since he has loomed large in Highland Park's past nine games. The win for Highland Park improves both its record (11-1) and its winning streak (11 games).

With both Highland Park and Mansfield Summit swaggering in after impressive performances, we'll see which team will step up to teach the other some humility.
