Recap: Whitwell Tigers vs. Copper Basin Cougars
After flying high against the Boyd Christian Broncos last Monday, the Whitwell Tigers came back down to earth. Whitwell received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 71-53 to Copper Basin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Whitwell in their matchups with Copper Basin: they've now lost four in a row.
It was another big night for Avery Crowder, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 23 rebounds for Copper Basin. Crowder continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Justus Hamby, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Whitwell has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season. As for Copper Basin, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-17.
Whitwell will be playing at home against Van Buren County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Copper Basin, they will head out on the road to take on Lookout Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Copper Basin is facing Lookout Valley at the right time seeing as Lookout Valley is stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
