Basketball Recap: Alhambra Comes Up Short

Alhambra was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by the North Mustangs 64-10. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Mustangs are ranked 81st).

When it comes to explaining why Alhambra lost, don't look at Ixchel Aleman Saldivar. Despite the final result, she posted seven points.

North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xxylina Flores led the charge by going 9 for 16 on her way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayanna Goode, who earned eight points along with seven assists and three steals.

Alhambra's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for North, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Alhambra didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 34-24 win against Metro Tech on the 17th. North has also already played their next contest, a 51-18 victory against Independence on the 18th.
