Basketball Recap: Andover Piles Up the Points Against Newton

Andover won against Salina Central last Thursday with 66 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Andover Trojans claimed a resounding 66-18 win over the Newton Railroaders. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Andover's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bella Bouddhara, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 12 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Bouddhara a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Katie Evans, who went 5-for-7 en route to 11 points and four steals.

Andover smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Andover's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points over those games. As for Newton, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Andover wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 84-28 victory against Salina Central on the 7th. As for Newton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 46-29 loss against Andover Central on the 7th.
