Preview: Jackson Generals vs. Miami Stingarees
The Jackson Generals will head out on the road to face off against the Miami Stingarees at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After soaring to 54 points the game before, Jackson were a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They were outmatched by Edison at home and fell 35-6. While losing is never fun, Jackson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 377th, while Edison is ranked 100th).
Meanwhile, Miami's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 42-3 loss at the hands of Doral Academy. Miami was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-3.
Jackson's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.6 points per game. As for Miami, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Jackson against Miami in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 46-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jackson since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
