Baseball Game Preview: Hillsboro Burros vs. Overton Bobcats

For the second straight game, Hillsboro will face off against Overton. The Burros are taking a road trip to take on the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillsboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Hillsboro made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Overton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Burros put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 15-3 victory on Monday. The Burros might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Easton Ice made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Michael Gooch, Jr was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Hillsboro: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Ben Clay was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Hillsboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Overton only posted a batting average of .261.

Hillsboro is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Overton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-10.
