Basketball Recap: Centralia Comes Up Short

Centralia lost against Palmyra back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between the Centralia Panthers and the Palmyra Panthers didn't end well, with the Centralia Panthers falling 72-58. While losing is never fun, Centralia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Palmyra is ranked 56th).

Centralia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Palmyra, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centralia will venture away from home to square off against Eldon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eldon has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Palmyra, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against South Shelby at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th.
