Basketball Game Preview: Tupper Lake Lumberjacks vs. Hermon-DeKalb Central Demons

After both having extra time off, the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks and the Hermon-DeKalb Central Demons will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tupper Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Tupper Lake was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to Madrid-Waddington. The contest marked the Lumberjacks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Tupper Lake got top-tier performance from Felix Bodeewes, who went 11 for 18 on his way to 26 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 59.1% of Tupper Lake's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Clark, who put up eight points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Hermon-DeKalb Central unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 56-48 to Indian River last Saturday.

Tupper Lake's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Hermon-DeKalb Central, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-1.

Tupper Lake came out on top in a nail-biter against Hermon-DeKalb Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, sneaking past 48-46. Will Tupper Lake repeat their success, or does Hermon-DeKalb Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
