Softball Recap: Everett Alvarez Comes Up Short

Everett Alvarez had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-14 to make it six. They came up short against the King City Mustangs, falling 18-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-5 back in March.

Everett Alvarez saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amaris Perez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for King City, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-12 record. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

On King City's side, Alizah Carrillo made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Carrillo was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four runs and three RBI.

In other batting news, King City let Taelyn Munoz and Avery Munoz run wild. Taelyn went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Avery went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits Taelyn has posted since back in March. Unique Mendoza was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Everett Alvarez has already played their next game, a 20-0 loss against Carmel on the 5th. As for King City, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-2 defeat against North Salinas on the 5th.
