Softball Recap: First Colonial Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

First Colonial extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping them up to 3-3. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Granby Comets. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly three runs.

Cori Evans spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maura Haesler, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Domozick, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Granby fell to 2-1. The loss put an end to their undefeated start to the season.

On Granby's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anwynn Williams, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Williams is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another was Kya Harris, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

First Colonial and Granby will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Patriots see the field they'll take on Bayside at 4:00 p.m. on the 14th. As for Granby, their break will end when they face Manor at 4:30 p.m. on the 14th.
