Baseball Recap: Hampshire Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Hampshire hadn't done well against Collinwood recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Trojans. Considering the Hawks have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Kasen Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Therin Brown, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Hampshire hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Hampshire pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Collinwood, they moved to 6-9 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Hampshire is taking a road trip to take on Hickman County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Collinwood, they will host Wayne County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
