Baseball Game Preview: Carter Cowboys vs. Conrad Chargers

For the second straight game, Carter will face off against Conrad. The Cowboys will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Carter knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Conrad likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Carter earned an 11-6 win over Conrad. With that victory, the Cowboys brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Sean Armster made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Armster was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Pablo Daurte, who scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Carter: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bonifacio Gomez, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Carter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Carter pushed their record up to 6-13 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Conrad, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
