Baseball Recap: Higley Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Higley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Boulder Creek Jaguars by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday.

Bryce Russo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Higley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ty Henze, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Coming up, Higley will be taking part in a tournament against Notre Dame Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Boulder Creek, they will take on Red Mountain in a tournament on Thursday.
