Softball Game Preview: Greeneview Rams vs. Greenon Knights

For the second straight game, Greeneview will face off against Greenon. The Rams will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Greeneview has four straight victories, Greenon has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Greeneview came out on top against Greenon on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Rams were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won seven matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Gabbie Burkett made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Greeneview got a massive performance out of Maddie Leslie, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. Rylie Battista was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Greeneview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Greeneview pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Greenon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
