Football Recap: Southlands Christian Eagles vs. Calvary Baptist Cougars
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southlands Christian). They blew past the Calvary Baptist Cougars 82-32 on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their 11-point performance the game before.
Despite the defeat, Calvary Baptist saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Devin DeBuono threw for 276 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing score. Those 276 passing yards set a new season-high mark for DeBuono. Zaedik Mcphail also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Southlands Christian now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Calvary Baptist, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Southlands Christian will face off against Santa Clara at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Calvary Baptist does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
