Football Game Preview: Tyler Legacy Raiders vs. Rockwall Yellowjackets

Tyler Legacy is 0-10 against Rockwall since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Raiders will take on the Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. Tyler Legacy has given up an average of 48.1 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Tyler Legacy had to suffer through a 63-20 loss at the hands of Longview. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while the Lobos are ranked 38th).

Despite the defeat, Tyler Legacy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bam White rushed for 84 yards and three TDs.

Meanwhile, while it was Rockwall who put the first points on the board on Friday, it was Forney who put up more. The Yellowjackets were just a hair shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Jackrabbits. The Yellowjackets were up 22-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Tyler Legacy will have to contain Brent Rickert as he made an impact in Rockwall's last game. He rushed for 63 yards and four scores, and also threw for 289 yards and one touchdown. Rickert has become a key player for Rockwall: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 250 passing yards, but 1-3 otherwise. A healthy portion of Rickert's aerial production (104 yards to be exact) went to Jett Lamb, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Rockwall now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Tyler Legacy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Tyler Legacy took a serious blow against Rockwall when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 63-27. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rickert, who threw for 392 yards and six TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Now that the Raiders know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
