Softball Game Preview: Penobscot Valley Howlers vs. Schenck Wolverines

Penobscot Valley has gone a perfect 10-0 against Schenck recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Howlers will look to defend their home field against the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

11 must be Penobscot Valley's lucky number: they beat Stearns with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Howlers never let the Minutemen get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Howlers' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Charlotte Dube and Ellie Austin did most of the damage at the plate: Dube went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs, while Austin went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Dube a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Cummings, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Penobscot Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .559 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Schenck had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Pandas with a sharp 18-10 win.

Schenck's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Penobscot Valley, they pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything went Penobscot Valley's way against Schenck in their previous matchup on May 5th, as Penobscot Valley made off with a 16-0 victory. Do the Howlers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
