Baseball Game Preview: Maine South Hawks vs. Deerfield Warriors

For the second straight game, Maine South will face off against Deerfield. The Hawks will host the Warriors at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Maine South is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over Deerfield on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Ben Barsuk looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Maine South got a massive performance out of Nate Cera, who fired off three home runs, four runs, and five RBI while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those five RBI gave Cera a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Constantine Coines, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Maine South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Deerfield has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Maine South, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
