Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Tigers vs. Bell Eagles

The Lincoln Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Bell Eagles at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Two weeks ago, Lincoln made easy work of Santee and carried off a 17-2 win. The Tigers have beaten the Falcons the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Falcons has come to flipping the script.

Rubie Morales made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in hits (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Gladys Barajas was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Monica Amaya was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bell). Everything went their way against Huntington Park on Friday as Bell made off with a 19-9 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Bell now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Lincoln, their record is now 4-2.

Lincoln might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Bell in their previous meeting back in May of 2018. Can Lincoln avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
