Baseball Recap: St. Agnes Aggies vs. St. Paul Central Minutemen
St. Agnes extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-3. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Paul Central Minutemen. The Aggies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Minutemen apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.
As for St. Paul Central, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games.
For St. Paul Central's part, Harper French looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Billy Vander Aarde was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base was his first of the season. Max Colby-Clay was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Agnes will take on New Life Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
