Soccer Recap: Longview Falls Short of Rowlett in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Longview can now relate to. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Rowlett Eagles who were credited with the win on Friday. The Rowlett Eagles got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Longview Lobos' three. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Longview came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Rowlett are ranked 213th).

The loss snapped Longview's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-6-3 record. As for Rowlett, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-4-3.

Longview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rowlett, they will square off against Mesquite at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Mesquite will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Rowlett surely won't give up without a fight.
