Basketball Recap: Logan Becerra and Julius Johnson Secure Win for Tulia

Tulia waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the River Road Wildcats 69-52. For the Hornets, this counts as revenge for the 56-48 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Leading Tulia to victory were Julius Johnson and Logan Becerra. Johnson went 8 for 13 on his way to 23 points and six assists, while Becerra went 7 of 8 en route to 16 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Nic Carrasco, who posted 12 points and five steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Tulia was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Road only racked up 12 assists.

When it comes to explaining why River Road lost, don't look at Alex Warren. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Malakai Miller was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Tulia's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-11. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for River Road, they moved to 11-6 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Tulia wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-50 victory against Canadian on the 14th. River Road has also already played their next match, a 54-45 win against Childress on the 14th.
