Softball Game Preview: Cary Imps vs. Pinecrest Patriots

Cary is on a 16-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Pinecrest an eight-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Cary Imps will host the Pinecrest Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Cary has given up an average of 14.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cary lost 17-2 to Middle Creek on Tuesday.

Cary saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Shea, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. Alena Ferrara also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Pinecrest brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Everything went their way against Northwood on Monday as they made off with a 19-4 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Patriots as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Emily Hatcher was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaiya Todd, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Pinecrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Cary's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Pinecrest, their win bumped their record up to 5-15.
