League recap: THESA rises in rankings with win

TCAL Division I - District 1 (6 Man) recap Oct. 16, 2012

THESA made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 747 from 853. The improvement came about via a 81-56 victory over THESA last week.

Dallas Burke's team's dynamic duo of Jordan Wilkerson and Marcus Ross proved tough for Azle Christian to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wilkerson threw for 424 yards and five touchdowns and Ross had 233 yards receiving. Jacob Woolley helped THESA's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 155 yards.

Antwan Blakely was the most productive running back in TCAL Division I - District 1 (6 Man) this week. In 11 carries, he ran for 89 yards as Phoenix Charter fell to the Fighting Crusaders. Teammate Marcus Thomas added to the ground attack by rushing for 79 yards.

THESA's Wilkerson and Ross have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wilkerson has thrown for 1474 yards this season, while Ross, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 25 catches for 631 yards. The FireBirds' Joshua Champion leads the league in rushing yards with 508.

THESA led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on THESA.
