Bloomfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past White River Valley 12-2. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Addison Lafree was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gwenavere Klun, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Clay City got the win against Dugger Union on Wednesday by a conclusive 19-2. The Eels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Charli Walters and Bri Rexrode made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Walters tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rexrode pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Walters has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Walters went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI, while Rexrode went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Faith Mitchell and Karlee Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Mitchell fired off two home runs, six RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-4, while Smith went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Abigale Shearer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Clay City lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Clay City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Bloomfield, their record now sits at 16-9.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bloomfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Clay City struggles in that department as they've averaged .365. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
