Volleyball Recap: Galax Maroon Tide vs. George Wythe Maroons
After flying high against Graham last Monday, Galax came back down to earth. The Galax Maroon Tide took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the George Wythe Maroons on Tuesday. The Maroon Tide were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Maroons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Galax came into the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-9, 25-21, 25-18.
Galax now has a losing record at 2-3. As for George Wythe, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-4 record.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Galax will play host again on Thursday to welcome Narrows, where is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. As for George Wythe, they will challenge Giles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
