Basketball Game Preview: Bloomfield Bees vs. Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades

Two dominant guards in Madyson Mlady and Ella Moses are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bloomfield Bees are taking a road trip to challenge the Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bloomfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Bloomfield is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Randolph: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Bloomfield blew Randolph out of the water with a 64-9 final score. With the Bees ahead 38-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Mlady was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. Mlady is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Eisenhauer, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Chambers/Wheeler Central ended up a good deal behind St. Mary's on Saturday and lost 45-30. The Renegades have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Chambers/Wheeler Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rose Woeppel put up four points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Woeppel.

Bloomfield has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Chambers/Wheeler Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Everything went Bloomfield's way against Chambers/Wheeler Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as Bloomfield made off with a 47-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bloomfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
