Belle Vernon dropped their record down to 13-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the West Mifflin Titans by a score of 7-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Alonzo Wade was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That double was his first of the season.

As for West Mifflin, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games.

On West Mifflin's side, Jake Martina tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Martina has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chase Maggio, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Kurta, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Looking ahead, Belle Vernon will face off against Serra Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Leopards 3.1, the Eagles 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. West Mifflin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
