Basketball Recap: South Mountain Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when South Mountain duked it out withWillow Canyon on Monday. The South Mountain Jaguars fell 68-56 to the Willow Canyon Wildcats. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Willow Canyon found their leader in freshman Maurice Carter II, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points and five steals. Carter II has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. Kaleel Kelly was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

South Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Willow Canyon, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

South Mountain has already played their next game, a 73-56 defeat against Greenway on the 26th. As for Willow Canyon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-48 victory against Valley Vista on the 26th.
