Softball Game Preview: Norco Cougars vs. JSerra Catholic Lions

The Norco Cougars will face off against the JSerra Catholic Lions at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Norco comes in on 22 and JSerra Catholic on three.

Norco is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Notre Dame (SO) get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, JSerra Catholic faced Pacifica in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Lions skirted past the Mariners 1-0. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by just one run.

The result came thanks to Liliana Escobar's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Annabel Raftery was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

JSerra Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.

Norco's win bumped their record up to 28-2. As for JSerra Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 23-8.

Norco came out on top in a nail-biter against JSerra Catholic in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
