Basketball Recap: E.E. Smith's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

E.E. Smith strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 56-46 win over the Rolesville Rams.

E.E. Smith was led to victory by Alonnie Baldwin - Muldrow and Azariah Brunson. Baldwin - Muldrow went 8-for-16 en route to 18 points and three steals, while Brunson dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. Brunson has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 18 times she's played. Jasmine Johnson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

E.E. Smith smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 21 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zoe Whitfield, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella-Michele Horton, who put up 12 points.

E.E. Smith's record now sits at 4-0. As for Rolesville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

E.E. Smith will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cape Fear at 6:30 p.m. on the 11th. As for Rolesville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-44 win against East Wake on the 2nd.
