Basketball Recap: Caston Falls Despite Big Games from Grace Colvin and Madisyn Douglass

If Caston was riding high fresh off their 71-35 takedown of Oregon-Davis last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Comets fell 44-39 to the Lewis Cass Kings on Wednesday. The Comets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Kings from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Caston had strong showings from Madisyn Douglass, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards, and Grace Colvin, who went 7-for-13 en route to 17 points. Douglass is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Lewis Cass' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aftin Griffin, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 16 points. Another player making a difference was Presley Johnson, who went 6-for-7 on her way to 13 points.

Caston's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Lewis Cass, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Caston will take on Logansport in a tournament on Saturday. As for Lewis Cass, they will venture away from home to challenge Rossville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
