Basketball Recap: Cole Martin and Avery Sanchez Secure Win for Pitman

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pitman had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Tokay Tigers as they made off with a 72-47 victory. Given the Pride's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Tigers are ranked 526th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Pitman to victory were Avery Sanchez and Cole Martin. Sanchez went 8-for-15 on his way to 21 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists, while Martin went 10-for-16 en route to 28 points and three blocks. Martin's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Sanchez, who posted 12 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Pitman was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Pitman's win bumped their record up to 24-5. As for Tokay, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-14.

Pitman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-35 defeat against Modesto Christian on the 19th. Tokay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
