Softball Recap: Northampton Comes Up Short

Northampton came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Mathews Blue Devils, falling 15-1. The Yellowjackets haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Northampton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryleigh Caison, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Northampton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Mathews, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-9.

Coming up, Northampton will square off against Chincoteague at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mathews, they will challenge Charles City at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
