Baseball Recap: Washington County Takes a Loss

If Washington County was riding high fresh off their 9-3 takedown of Clarke County last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Fruitdale Pirates by a score of 7-6 on Monday. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pirates earlier this season, when they won 16-1.

Washington County's loss dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Fruitdale, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season.

Washington County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-0 defeat against Leroy on the 8th. As for Fruitdale, they have also already played their next match, an 11-10 victory against Southern Choctaw on the 7th.
